What is FOCUS Class for Fathers?
FOCUS Class for Fathers is a program designed for non-compliant/non-custodial dads. It is funded in part through a grant from the Office of the Attorney General of Texas. Its goal is to help fathers, who are remiss in child support payments and in visiting their children, to understand the importance of their roles as dads, grow in their fathering skills, enhance their child support payments and start spending quality time with their children.
What is the class about?
NewDay teaches this ten-week course utilizing a specially designed & adapted curriculum that addresses the challenges of fatherhood. The FOCUS Class for Fathers re-educates men in the vital role they play in their children's lives, gives them parenting skills and opportunity to interact with their children. It further shows them the importance of financial support for their children and how that affects their visitation access. Our goal is to see generations changed by helping men better serve their families.
Who attends the class?
The program is offered in collaboration with the IV-D Courts Probation Office, Tarrant County Domestic Relations Office - Community Supervision Unit. At this time, attendance in the class is court-mandated.
