What are Mentor-Navigators?
Mentor-Navigators work with CPS - FOCUS+ participants to move them from where they are now to where they obtain self-sufficiency. We empower them—giving them the tools and life skills to better determine their own future and the future of their children. We strengthen their role as a parent by impacting their attitudes, knowledge, and behavior. The process includes a variety of strategies, techniques and resources designed to build on the participants’ strengths and overcome barriers. By placing a dedicated Mentor-Navigator with fathers in our FOCUS+ (Families Offering Children Unfailing Support) Program, clients remain engaged, working toward healthy parenting and self-sufficiency.
Mentor-Navigators provide wrap-around, holistic services to participants through a relational engagement strategy. Our Mentor-Navigators are of tremendous value to the parents attending our FOCUS+ Program. Parents get life skills from the classes, but also a person to help reinforce concepts and recognize opportunities within real-world situations.
